What I do:

I represent people in all types of trial-level criminal matters, including DUI.
My appellate practice ranges from misdemeanor appeals to a county Appellate Division, to petitions to the California Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court.
I also handle DMV administrative hearings and writs, traffic court, and expungements.

Where I practice:

I work mostly in Alameda and San Francisco counties, but I have worked all over the Bay Area: so far,

San Mateo, Santa Clara, Contra Costa, Marin, Sonoma, Napa, Solano, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced, and Fresno counties. I’ve also appeared in Orange County, in southern California.

How MUCH:

Lawyers say this all the time: “It depends.” Every case is different. I try to keep my fees affordable, and can nearly always accommodate a reasonable payment plan.

I sometimes accept pro bono and “low bono” cases, but only if and when I want to. If you are looking for a free lawyer, you should start with your local public defender.

Why I charge a flat rate:
In criminal cases, I charge a flat fee, covering representation up through one trial - meaning I investigate the case, research the law, negotiate with the prosecutors, write and argue motions, and try the case if necessary.

With a flat fee, that’s all part of the deal. Flat fees tend to eliminate the financial pressures inherent in hourly or “two-tiered” payment - which can make it too expensive for defendants to fight their case.
I don’t want my clients to feel “the meter is running” every time they call to ask a question, or to feel priced out of asserting their constitutional rights.
